Black Dalea is a thornless, low-growing, mounding shrub with feathery foliage and small purple flowers. Once established, it is very low maintenance.
Black Dalea needs good drainage and full sun. It should not be fertilized or over-watered. It prefers poor, shallow soils and performs well in xeric gardens, such as rock gardens or rocky slopes. It can be used for erosion control. It handles reflected heat well and it only needs occasional irrigation in the summer.
Black Dalea blooms from late summer to mid fall, and it looks quite showy when in bloom. It can be trimmed in late winter or early spring to keep its dense shape.
