Chinkapin Oak is a large, stately tree with glossy, wavy-edged leaves that turn orange-red in fall. Excellent shade tree for large spaces. It is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, including the heavy clay and rocky limestone soils of North Texas. It produces acorns that are a key food source for wildlife. One of the best oaks for our area.
