Lindheimer's Crownbeard is a fall garden workhorse that just keeps going. From late spring all the way through November, its tall, upright stems carry clusters of cheerful yellow daisy-like flowers — blooming long after most perennials have called it quits for the season.

At home on limestone slopes and in the dappled shade of juniper scrubland, it thrives in the conditions that challenge most plants — rocky soil, summer heat, and drought — without complaint.
