Big Sacaton is a large, robust, warm-season bunchgrass. It features showy, open, airy flower heads. Its large size creates dramatic visual impact in the landscape. It is highly adaptable, and can grow in both wet and dry conditions. Once established it is drought tolerant. It is a great choice for riparian areas, pond edges, rain gardens, and areas where erosion control is needed. It provides good cover for wildlife. It is native to the Southwest US and is particularly adapted to the hot Texas climate.
